In the past, SPRING has done this successfully with makers such as Florentina Holzinger, Julian Hetzel, Dries Verhoeven, Jan Martens and Nicole Beutler, whom we often accompanied in their transition from independent makers to their own company. Currently, we focus on interesting innovative (inter)national artists who move between genres and want to redefine their artistic practice. In the Netherlands, we focus on makers who are not yet structurally funded, or whose work does not fit within structural support possibilities. We support international (mostly mid-career) makers who decide to move their practice to the Netherlands. Internationally, SPRING focuses on interdisciplinary makers whose practice is threatened by political and/or economic conditions in their local context.
With the support of funds such as Ammodo and the VandenEnde Foundation and various formal and informal networks, we are able to support a significant number of new creations each year. Many of these tour internationally for many seasons. In addition to a financial contribution, we advise during the creative process and in professionalization, we are allies in finding other (inter)national production partners and in building new strong and sustainable international networks.
