Support SPRING
Are you a fan of SPRING? Support us and join our FANCLUB.
SPRING believes that space for artistic freedom is essential to the development of a healthy, democratic society. The role of art in society and the conditions under which art can flourish are being challenged. SPRING’s mission is to actively support and promote innovative developments in the performing arts and create opportunities for encounters between artists and the public.
SPRING is a platform where art forms that address the most pressing issues of the modern world can be presented, experienced, and discussed. We engage in dialogue with our artistic communities throughout the year. We help them develop their artistic capabilities, expand their professional networks and broaden the reach of their works. We actively collaborate with local and international partner organizations to promote our sector and its role in the global network.
Artistic freedom and the space to create and share one’s own voice are not possible for all artists everywhere in the world. SPRING aims to offer this opportunity to artists who lack support or freedom to do so in their own country or community.
Will you help us to make this possible? Join our FANCLUB.

At SPRING we are aware of the acceleration of artistic production, and we do our best to find the best ways to avoid it, to build more meaningful relationships between festival and artists, festival and audience, and to facilitate this between artists and audience directly.
We aim to support artists by investing in them for a longer period of time. We offer them:
- a platform at the festival to showcase their work or research;
- the opportunity to share their artistic vision and working methods through the SPRING Academy;
- guidance (both artistic and organizational);
- residency space;
- introductions to audiences and the industry;
- targeted networking opportunities;
- exchanges with peers and,
- in some cases, a co-production grant.
What is possible with your support?
Performer, theater maker, and sound artist Nahuel Cano was born in Patagonia. In Argentina, he collaborated with other artists in a group called “El Cuarto” and founded an artistic collective called “Escena Política,” which organized actions to draw attention to the need for a fairer and more inclusive arts scene in Buenos Aires. This led him to the radical decision to give up his rapidly developing film and theater career in Argentina and move to the Netherlands. In 2020, Nahuel Cano graduated from the DAS Theater master’s program at the Amsterdam University of the Arts, and since then he has been trying to put down roots in the Netherlands through his work.
Over the past three years, Nahuel Cano has appeared in projects by other SPRING artists. At the same time, he developed his first solo music project, Ways To Listen To a River, which was presented during SPRING 2024. SPRING has joined forces with the Gaudeamus Festival, and together we are offering him guidance, both artistic and organizational, for his new research project.
Thanks to the support of the SPRING FANCLUB, Nahuel Cano was able to conduct this research, which will lead to a new large-scale work set to premiere during the 2026 festival. With a growing network and performance opportunities, Cano hopes to officially establish his organization in the Netherlands so that he can apply for structural support.
