ART AS A COUNTERBALANCE IN TIMES OF CRISIS: SPRING FESTIVAL KICKS OFF
On May 14, the SPRING Performing Arts Festival opened with a double bill by South Korean artist Sung Im Her. In the festival’s opening statement, artistic director Grzegorz Reske, accompanied by Mayor Dijksma, explained how a world in crisis calls for artists who pause, analyse and critique. In a sold-out main auditorium at the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, Sung Im Her did just that with two powerful choreographies exploring resilience and excess.
Utrecht is counting down to the ten-day SPRING festival
The SPRING Performing Arts Festival and Utrecht are ready for the start of the fourteenth edition of the international performing arts festival. This year, the flags are flying in black and pink, and the sets are in place in the theatres. From Argentina to Palestine, and from Japan to Australia: more than 100 performers are on their way to Utrecht from home and abroad. Together, they will present more than 30 individual productions, spread across 13 venues throughout the city.

SPRING Performing Arts Festival is a ten-day international festival with innovative dance, theatre, performance and more in the city of Utrecht. You will find SPRING in the theatres, at special locations and in public spaces. At the festival you will see more than 25 adventurous and urgent performances from both near and far that dare to ask questions about the state of the world.
