Suddenly everywhere is black with people

    Demolition Inc., Marcelo Evelin
    Edition
    SPRING 2014

In Suddenly everywhere is black with people a group of performers painted pitch-black infiltrates the audience, coming terrifyingly and thrillingly close. The dancers move across the space like one big body lumped together, forcing the spectators to choose a new position all the time. Is it a war dance? Or a crowd on the run? An exodus? Marcelo Evelin has taken inspiration from the book Crowds and Power by Elias Canetti, in which this winner of the Nobel prize tries to unravel the sinister phenomenon of the crowd. Suddenly everywhere is black with people deals with our fear of the unknown, but also with our fascination with it. The show was the ultimate festival hit at Kunstenfestivaldesart and during De Internationale Keuze (Rotterdamse Schouwburg), greatly impressing both the press and audiences. Do not miss this opportunity to see Suddenly everywhere is black with people in Utrecht!

Recipient of the Funarte Klauss Vianna Dance Award 2011 (BR).

On May 17 Suddenly everywhere is black with people can be seen with Adishatz/Adieu as Double Bill #3: Brazilian dance + French onemanshow

Suddenly everywhere is black with people combines well with the performance-installation Still (The Economy of Waiting).
