What if you come from a neutral world and, all of a sudden, everything has a gender? The Iranian dancer Sorour Darabi has a personal answer to that question. Her/his mother tongue, Farsi, knows no masculine or feminine. The word ‘gender’ is said .’jenssiat’, which means ‘material تیسنج‘ The gender of a table is wood. What is Darabi’s gender then? Is it skin, esh, bones, muscles, blood, cells? Since Darabi has been living in France, everything has been either masculine or feminine. Farci.e is a fascinating, almost wordless monologue, in which Darabi almost eats up his/her own language.
