Marcelo Evelin
Marcelo Evelin is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer, and researcher. He lives and works between Teresina (Brazil) and Amsterdam and leads Demolition Incorporada, a performance platform based at CAMPO, a space for artistic residency and resistance in Teresina. Evelin creates boundary-pushing performances that merge dance, ritual, and social engagement. His works De Repente Fica Tudo Preto de Gente, Batucada, A Invenção da Maldade, and UIRAPURU are performed in theaters and festivals worldwide. In addition to his artistic practice, he has been teaching at the Amsterdam University of the Arts since 1999 and collaborates with institutions such as ISAC (Brussels), the Reina Sofia Museum (Madrid), EXERCE (Montpellier), and CND (Paris). In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Federal University of Piauí. Evelin’s work explores the physical and political dimensions of the moving body, always in dialogue with society and its transformations.
