Eisa Jocson

Eisa Jocson is an interdisciplinary artist based in La Union, Philippines. With a background in ballet and visual arts, she discovered contemporary dance through pole dancing. In her work, she explores body politics within the service and entertainment industries, focusing on the socioeconomic context of the Philippines. She examines how and why bodies move—whether driven by social mobility ormigrant work. In works like Death of the Pole Dancer and Macho Dancer, she explores the role of women’s labor in migrant work and how capitalism pushes the movement of these bodies into ‘developed’ geographies. Eisa has presented her work at festivals and theaters worldwide, including Tanz im August, TPAM Yokohama, and Zürcher Theaterspektakel.
