Join the SPRING Academy! We host talks with artists, reading groups, masterclasses, workshops, and artistic exchanges. Meet peers in the field, connect with artists, and discover new impulses and tendencies within the field. SPRING Academy is open to everyone who wants to explore more about SPRING performances and the contexts in which they exist.
About
SPRING Academy: Platform for artistic exchange
SPRING Academy is an important part of the SPRING Performing Arts Festival. As a platform, it presents free public events such as after-talks, topic talks, reading groups, and more. The Academy programme provides new perspectives on the performances and allows you to gain deeper insight into developments in the field and current topics that shape our understanding of the world.
In this edition, SPRING Academy present six different thematic trajectories. Each of these trajectories will focus on a current topic and will be composed by different performances and contextual activities from the Academy program.

SPRING Academy will present several thematic trajectories: six educational programmes guided by international artists, aimed at art students, emerging artists, and anyone interested in the performing arts. This is allowing you to experience the festival on a deeper level.

All trajectories focus on a current contemporary theme within the field, which can also be extrapolated to the society we live in. Each trajectory includes several performances, masterclasses, encounters with artists, topic talks, reading groups, and other events.
Everyone interested in delving deeper and gaining a richer experience of the festival is welcome to sign up, both students and members of the general public. Do you have questions because you do not have a background in the performing arts? Get in touch with us and we will be happy to help!
This is what you can expect when you follow one of the SPRING Academy Trajectories:
- Visits to at least four performances
- Meetings with artists
- Opening and reflection session with a maker from the festival programme
- Knowledge exchange with experts and peers
- Masterclasses with international artists
- Topic Talks and after talks
- Collective lunches
- Informal drinks to celebrate!
All in all, the Academy Trajectories offer an experience full of fun, learning, new friendships and lots of inspiration!
School Program
For over 10 years, SPRING has built close relationships with various art and academic institutions that visit the festival each year for an enriching experience with SPRING Academy.
Educational institutions from all over the Netherlands and anywhere in the world will be able to participate in the trajectory or trajectories of their choice. The content of the trajectories is carefully curated to include performance visits and after-talks, topic talks, reading groups and workshops related to current and relevant topics of the contemporary social and cultural agenda.
Public Program 2026
Several of the events organised by SPRING Academy are free and open to the public, such as the Topic Talks at Stadsschouwburg, the reading groups at De Utrechtse Boekenbar, and the after-talks. Don’t miss them!
