The work of this Israeli artist offers a brilliant take on identities, politics and erotic desire.

With his absurdly funny and politically disturbing films and performances, Roee Rosen was one of the favourites of the last documenta. The work of this Israeli artist offers a brilliant take on identities, politics and erotic desire. During Theatre of the Awkward, Marcel Schwierin, curator, filmmaker en director van Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art will introduce Roee Rosens latest work-in-progress Kafka for Kids, which translates Kafka's work into a remarkable children's musical. As part of Kafka for Kids, the short film Explaining the Law to Kwame will be shown, a film that blurs the boundaries between political and sexual excesses. The evening ends with the live performance Hilarious, a dysfunctional stand-up comedy routine by the fabulous Hani Furstenberg.

From 19 April – 27 May, the exhibition Roee Rosen: Poetry and Catharsis will be showing at IMPAKT (Lange Nieuwstraat 4). In his own provocative way, using video, image and text, Roee Rosen links contemporary themes from Israeli and world politics with e rotica, physical intimacy, trauma, and identity.
