    Edition
    SPRING 2015

Please note: Blindness can be seen in Utrecht until 6 June. Buy your tickets here.

Blindness by Theater Utrecht (previously: De Utrechtse Spelen) is an incisive audio visual location performance based on the novel by Nobel Prize laureate José Saramago. Blindness tells the story of a city that is suddenly hit by an epidemic of ‘white blindness’. Those infected are put into quarantine, where circumstances deteriorate quickly. Lack of food and bad hygiene put a strain on their humanity and dignity. In this layered staging with ingenious video and sound design, director Thibaud Delpeut creates a hallucinogenic rendition of blindness. The result is a sometimes abrasive, yet heartening and surprisingly funny journey.

After last years play Crave, this is the second performance by Thibaud Delpeut, artistic director of  theatre company Theater Utrecht, that is premiering at SPRING festival. Starring Karina Smulders, Hein van der Heijden, Wendell Jaspers and others.

Theater Utrecht and SPRING are collaborating to organise introductions and after-show talks around Stad der Blinden
