Crave is the first show since the rebirth of De Utrechtse Spelen, Utrecht’s own theatre company, under its new artistic director Thibaud Delpeut. Having successfully presented Blasted and 4.48 Psychosis, Crave is Delpeut’s third staging of a play by Sarah Kane, the British playwright who is so important to him. Delpeut sees Crave as a score for two male and two female voices, trying to belong and looking for meaning in their metropolitan lives, and craving the purification of love. In a layered web of questions and answers, monologue and dialogue, the production creates a world fraught with desire, suppression, redemption and power.
Especially for SPRING two Utrecht-based companies are joining forces to create this show. Crave is the first co-production by De Utrechtse Spelen and the Rosa Ensemble. Composer Wilbert Bulsink is developing an exclusive original composition for four musicians, who will be shadowing the actors on the stage.
On May 21 Crave can be seen with Nos Limites as Double Bill #7: Real dance + Real theatre.
On May 21 there is a 10 Minutes, 10 Questions after the performance.
