Sven Peetoom (1993) is a Dutch-Indonesian screenwriter, film director and theatre maker based in Amsterdam. He received his Bachelor of Film and Literature Studies from Leiden University and studied for a year at the European Film College in Ebeltoft, Denmark. Sven works as a commissioned filmmaker, specialising in documentary portraits and video installations around technology, sustainability and art. Furthermore, he is a programmer for Off Screen Rotterdam’s monthly film screenings where he interviews the filmmakers. Sven has made several short fiction films and web series, screened at IFFR, NFF and NPO3 online, among others. In 2022, his short documentary Indisch Zwijgen premiered. The film received national press attention around the Dutch East Indies commemoration (NOS, NRC, Oog op Morgen, Tweede Kamer), which was followed by impact screenings and nationwide cinema distribution.
