Kate McIntosh

Kate McIntosh, a Brussels-based artist from Aotearoa New Zealand, transcends the boundaries of performance, theatre, video, and installation. Her works, internationally recognized since 2004, emphasize the physicality of performers and audiences, object manipulation, and fostering direct connections among audience members. Guided by a fascination with object misuse, playful public engagement, and theatrical images, Kate’s stage creations, including solos like All Natural (2004) and group performances like In Many Hands (2016), tour extensively in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. She collaborates with artists such as Tim Etchells and Eva Meyer-Keller and was artist-in-residence at Brussels’ Kaaitheater from 2017-2021. Beyond her own practice, Kate co-founded the performance collective Poni and collaborated with directors like Tim Etchells and companies including Forced Entertainment. Holding an MRes in Performance and Creative Research, Kate also teaches performance practice in various university courses.
