Changes in Subvisory Board

29.09.2025

This summer, a number of changes took place in SPRING’s Supervisory Board. Franc Faaij has been appointed chair of the Supervisory Board. He succeeds Tanja Mlaker, who has held this position for the past seven years. We thank her for her commitment and excellent cooperation. We are delighted that Cécile de Vos joined the Supervisory Board this summer.

Franc Faaij has been a member of SPRING’s Supervisory Board since January 2021. He has been working at Rotterdam Festivals since 2010, where he has held the position of Festival Team Manager for the past five years. In the past, Franc Faaij worked for the Municipality of Utrecht at the City Promotion Program Office and was chairman of the board of music festivals Le Guess Who? and Grasnapolsky, among others. Franc Faaij: ‘Although these are big shoes to fill, I am very happy and honored to succeed Tanja Mlaker as chair of SPRING’s Supervisory Board. I would therefore like to start by thanking Tanja for her cooperation and the inspiring way in which she has led SPRING’s Supervisory Board over the past few years.
For me, SPRING represents stepping out of your comfort zone or bubble; it represents new perspectives and artistic forms that inspire you by offering different ways of looking at the world around you. Hopefully, this will also lead you to form new connections with the world and the people around you. Something that is incredibly important, especially in the times we live in. But for me, SPRING is also a wonderful festival in Utrecht where you can enjoy beautiful shows and performances with great pleasure.’

Cécile de Vos is director-administrator at Stichting Onderwijsgeschillen (Stichting Onderwijsgeschillen). She is also chair of advisory committees and juries at the Performing Arts Fund. Regarding her membership of the Supervisory Board, she says: ‘I am a fan of SPRING because SPRING stands for artistic freedom and the professional development of international creators in an environment where everyone is equal. This setting ensures that SPRING’s creators and audience make the city of Utrecht a place where human rights are recognized and celebrated. You can feel that movement when you’re at the festival, and it fits perfectly with my love and work for art, education, and human rights.’

In addition to Franc Faaij and Cécile de Vos, SPRING’s Supervisory Board currently consists of Caspar Nieuwenhuis, Patricia van den Broek, Arianne Perez-Koeleman, and Hanneke Lenkens.
