Erik van Wijdeven

Erik van Wijdeven (Wageningen, 1988) graduated from Design Academy in Eindhoven and studied at the Performance department of the Theatre Academy in Maastricht. Currently he works as a multidisciplinary performance artist, scenographer and light designer, collaborating with other artists as well as creating and performing his own work.

As a designer, his work is strongly determined by his fascination for creating (light) installations which amplify the human body in its expression. As a performer, his interest revolves mainly around researching embodied states and their ability to communicate deeply and viscerally. Ideally he creates works wherein these two practices meet and reinforce each other.
