Dancing jitters, or the intensely felt urge to party. Don’t we all feel it in these pandemic-ridden times? But where does it come from, this extreme need for movement that we’re feeling?
In her solo The Dancing Public, Mette Ingvartsen dances the loneliness of the 2020 lockdown out of her system. A mix of unstoppable moves and an incessant stream of music, words, and singing, at hellish speed and to infernal rhythms. Mette invites her audience to join her in creating a truly ecstatic dance craze to rid ourselves of the stress caused by epidemics, natural disasters and poverty. Are you ready to get high on life again?
“This energizing evening brings back moments from human history when communities overcame the trauma of a major plague through the cleansing ritual of communal dance. Gradually, the audience is invited to participate in this ritual themselves.” – Grzegorz Reske, artistic director SPRING
