The VandenEnde foundation interviewed artists Leandro Souza and Ainhoa Hernández Escudero about their performances, which are part of SPRING’s programme next week.
Leandro Souza discusses his practice and his performance Musa Insistente, which can be seen in Theater Kikker on Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1.
“Through my work, I mainly try to establish a dialogue with the audience. I am an artist who wanders around, but also dives deep into something; who is close to his own time and out of step at the same time. Contradictions are central. So I think my message is not so much a particular lesson, but more the fact that the way we see reality is not the only or best way.”
Ainhoa Hernández Escudero talks about her performance (DON’T) LOOK ME IN THE EYES, which can also be seen in Theater Kikker on Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1.
“It is precisely in theater that it is possible to experience other perspectives on the world. There is a lot of symbolism and references in the performance. Hopefully everyone will leave the theater with a different feeling and their own interpretation of the play.”
