For 10000 gestures Boris Charmatz imagined a forest of movements, each of which would disappear the moment they had been executed. With this ‘anti-museum’ the French choreographer intends to create a human database as a reaction to our digital data-bases. It is an ode to the fleeting nature of dance.
22 powerful performers will be executing 10000 unique movements: not a single gesture is repeated, not one movement returns. At times very funny, pleasurable and memorable, at others very shortlived or nostalgic, 10000 gestures is a hypnotising, meditative and thrilling reinvention of the language of dance.
