Photos and reviews of the 6th edition of SPRING in Autumn.
Thursday 27 – Saturday 29 October was the sixth edition of SPRING in Autumn, the yearly festival we organize together with Stadsschouwburg Utrecht. We showed 7 performances, including 5 Dutch premieres, from 6 different countries.
The Portuguese maker Raquel Andre made the performance Collection of Spectators together with 6 visitors from SPRING and Stadsschouwburg Utrecht.
We opened the festival on Thursday with L Haal from Khalid Benghrib. De Theaterkrant wrote “Moroccan choreographer Khalid Benghrib creates an exciting tribute to his cultural roots” about the opening.
Memory Lapse from Wouter van Veldhoven and Guiot Duermeijer could be visited during the festival in the foyer in the Stadsschouwburg Utrecht. “In Memory Lapse, the audiovisual installation from installation artist / technical developer Wouter van Veldhoven and theatre maker Guiot Duiermeijer, a small group of onlookers looks at a compisition of tape recorders. Through various overlapping sounds we get an elegant, intimate image of dementia and changing memories.”
“The acquired ideals of the seniors, who manage to enchant the audience with their disarming dancing, are constantly knocked down. We go forwards, but also backwards just as hard. They prove not to be durable. The new generation will have to invent the wheel again. The spectators, both young and old, gloat from recognition and are fully in.” is what de Theaterkrant wrote about Dance Me!, the performance by the German collective She She Pop, which could be seen in the Blauwe Zaal on Thursday evening.
