Florentina Holzinger’s work straddles the line between performance art, choreography, ritual and stunt show. She is best known for her overwhelming and raw brand of total theatre that links art and dance history with pop culture and entertainment.
TANZ is a study of the female body as a special effects machine. The show starts with a ballet class led by a famous retired ballerina Beatrice Schönherr. The dancers are undergoing a rigorous training in “action ballet”. We witness their transformation from ballerinas to stunt women, from plié to piercing and from dancers to witches on broomsticks. It is a search for perfection in a world on the run and turns the raw into the sublime.
