Specific place needs specific dance is the result of a blind date between two choreographers; one from Europe, living in Germany, and the other from Jayapura in Papua, Indonesia. Each received the other in their own hometown, the city where only one of them knew the way. There, they waited for something to happen. They waited for the unknown in a strange land and they waited for the known in a familiar land. Visitors witness an encounter that goes beyond the usual clichés about East and West, high culture and low culture, ‘queer’, ethnicity, modern music and traditional music.
