Dynamic, interactive online performance, taking place live from New Delhi, India
Zoom with us and take part in this dynamic, interactive online performance, taking place live from New Delhi, India. Two lead characters and fifteen other actors come together to spark conversations with each other and their audience about sexual violence and justice. Using personal stories, experiences and musings, the piece asks questions about what ‘consent’ means and the language that is used to discuss sexual violence. Allegedly also opens up the contradictions, confusions and irregularities of our own behaviour. The audience members’ thoughts and decisions will also play a role in the direction the play takes, trying to ‘make sense of it all’. Or at least the closest we can get to!
About:
Theatre maker Mallika Taneja lives in Delhi walks with Women Walk at Midnigh, talks in Sex Chat Room, is interested in questions and conversations about mental health, gender, city, justice, trauma, healing and more. The piece was first commissioned by Zubaan, an independent feminist publishing house based in New Delhi, as part of their project ‘Stepping Stones’, that looked at sexual violence and impunity all over India. The piece has been performing in universities and other contexts in India since 2018. Now, Allegedly has been reshaped as a live interactive performance online.
