Open call: join The Storm
In November, SPRING—in collaboration with Het Wilde Westen—is presenting the Japanese performance collective contact Gonzo from Osaka. For their performance, The Storm, we are looking for Utrecht residents who would like to take part in a unique artistic adventure.
Together with the creators, you will explore how to evoke the movement, sound, and power of the ocean within a theater space using only your body and voice—without instruments or sound equipment. After a series of workshops, you will step onto the stage and become part of the performance.
Who is this for?
This open call is for everyone—young and old, experienced or completely new to dance and theater. No prior experience is required; all you need is an enthusiasm for working with your voice, your body, and each other. It is helpful, however, to speak a little English so you can communicate with the creators and other participants.
What will you be doing?
Together with 14 others, you will build The Storm: a performance about how the sea moves, feels, and sounds. Although the sound of waves is the same everywhere, people across the globe perceive and describe it differently. Together, we will discover what this means for us.
About contact Gonzo
contact Gonzo is an international artist collective from Japan. They have successfully delivered projects in countries including Japan, Vietnam, and Germany. Their specialty lies in finding unique ways to tell stories without words, relying purely on movement and sound.
