SPRING Performing Arts Festival 2021 is calling (emerging) artists and students: makers, choreographers, scenographers, audio storytellers, dramaturgs, dancers, actors, performers, writers, curators, researchers and political engagers who would love to learn more during the Masterclasses and Open Programmes of SPRING Academy 2021. Meet other (young) artists, as well as professional artists that are performing at SPRING this year.
This year we offer you three open call programmes.
A strong physical training will form the base for this workshop: The training challenges the participants physically and mentally and immediately deals with questions about physicality and its limits. Based on the common experience, Florentina will give an introduction to her work and methodology.

Marte Boneschansker creates one-on-one experiential theatre based on documentary material. Her work focuses on developing intimate, physical audio works that hover between theater and installation. In this Masterclass, go ‘into the wild’ with Marte to record and edit a story surrounding an overall theme that is close to your heart, which you will choose and discuss as a group.

For SPRING Academy 2021 Performance maker Julian Hetzel and dramaturg Miguel Melgares introduce Unalphabet, their new long term artistic research project.
Unalphabet is a critical encyclopedia on Western culture’s contradictions that proposes a framework for critical independent thinking and making – for learning and unlearning. Unalphabet as a series of nomadic encounters between experts, dilettantes, friends and strangers. The aim is to create a creative biotope that generates a platform for exchange while providing a fertile base for various art projects that stem from this research.
During the three days of Unalphabet, Chapter No. 1, H = Hope, the participants will explore, think, meet, talk, watch, discuss, fight and dance together with a group of guest speakers and practitioners, with the idea to critically examine the concept of hope.
